How does In-home Senior Care in Hollywood Park, TX work?

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it's especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age. When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one ages, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a unfamiliar assisted living community, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

 In-Home Care Hollywood Park, TX

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

Comfort

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old. With the help of elderly care in Hollywood Park, TX, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Healthy Living

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors. Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

Independence

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like an assisted living community. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

Cost and Convenience

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, can be less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

 Elderly Care Hollywood Park, TX

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care in Hollywood Park, TX gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

Affordable Care Plans

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

 Senior Care Hollywood Park, TX

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

  • Veteran's Benefits: Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
  • Long-Term Care Insurance: Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
  • Private Insurance: Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
  • Life Insurance: Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.

During your Care Plan consultation with Always Best Care, your Care Coordinator will speak with you about in-home care costs and what options there may be to help meet your budget needs.

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Hollywood Park,TX understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Taking the First Step with Always Best Care

The first step in getting quality in-home care starts with a personal consultation with an experienced Care Coordinator. This initial consultation is crucial for our team to learn more about you or your elderly loved one to discover the level of care required. Topics of this consultation typically include:

01

An assessment of your senior loved one

02

An in-depth discussion of the needs of your senior loved one to remain in their own home

03

Reviewing a detailed Care Plan that will meet your senior loved one's needs

Our caregivers are trained to spot changes that clients exhibit, like mental and physical decline. As your trusted senior care company, we will constantly assess and update your Care Plan to meet any new emotional, intellectual, physical, and emotional needs.

If you have never considered in-home care before, we understand that you and your family may have concerns about your Care Plan and its Care Coordinator. To help give you peace of mind, know that every team member and caregiver must undergo comprehensive training before being assigned to a Care Plan.

Universal is adding another theme park to its roster.

The company announced plans for a new park Wednesday in Frisco, Texas, which will be aimed at “younger audiences” and “sized for a regional audience.” The park will be situated on part of 97 acres recently purchased by Universal, and the company also plans to add “an adjacent themed hotel.”

Though Universal said the park will feature the company’s IP and include attractions, shows, food and beverages and character meet and greets, the company stressed that it will be unlike its existing parks.

“The entire area is intended to have a completely different look, feel, and scale than Universal’s existing parks and will appeal to a new audience for the brand,” the company stated in the announcement.

Universal currently has theme parks in Florida, California, Japan, Singapore and China. The parks have seen strong demand, particularly domestically, this year, which has helped bolster the finances of NBCUniversal as it was hit by advertising slowdowns and increased cord-cutting.

This is a move away from the bigger theme parks, however, in what Universal said is a move to target a growing population. Frisco, in Northern Texas, has a population of just over 200,000. Bloomberg reported that Universal is also planning an upcoming horror attraction in Las Vegas.

“We are excited about the opportunity to partner with the city of Frisco and Mayor Cheney as we work to bring this innovative, new concept to life designed specifically for a younger generation of Universal fans,” said Page Thompson, President, New Ventures, Universal Parks & Resorts. “We think North Texas is the perfect place to launch this unique park for families given its growing popularity within this part of the country.”

“Frisco is one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. and has been recognized as a great place to plant professional roots and raise a family,” said Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney. “This new Universal concept will continue to enhance our tax base, expand employment opportunities and bring even more fun to Frisco benefiting our residents, businesses, and visitors.”

The timeline for the park has not yet been released.

Universal Parks and Resorts has revealed a plan to open a new family-friendly theme park in Frisco, Texas.

On Wednesday, Jan. 11, Universal announced initial details for the theme park, which has not been named, in a press release.

The company described the park as “unlike any other in the world” and said it will include themed lands that celebrate fan-favorite characters from Universal projects.

“The proposed park will be designed to be more intimate and engaging for younger audiences and will be sized for a regional audience,” the press release said. “It will be full of family-friendly attractions, interactive and playful shows, character meet and greets, unique merchandise and fun food and beverage venues.”

Frisco, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, will be the home of the smaller, 97-acre theme park. Universal also shared that the company plans to build a themed hotel near the park. The company said there is space for potential later additions as well.

Page Thompson, President, New Ventures, Universal Parks and Resorts, said in a statement, “We are excited about the opportunity to partner with the city of Frisco and Mayor Cheney as we work to bring this innovative, new concept to life designed specifically for a younger generation of Universal fans.”

He added, “We think North Texas is the perfect place to launch this unique park for families given its growing popularity within this part of the country.”

Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney also expressed his excitement about the possible new theme park. He praised his town for being, “is one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. and has been recognized as a great place to plant professional roots and raise a family.”

Cheney said the theme park will bring more employment opportunities to the area that will help local residents and businesses.

More information about the theme park will be announced in the future, Universal said in the release.

Universal Parks & Resorts currently has five theme parks across the world. There are two locations in the United States: Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. Both the Orlando and Hollywood parks feature the “Wizarding World of “Harry Potter,” where fans are transported to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Universal Studios Japan welcomes visitors to “Super Nintendo World” — an experience that will soon open in the California park as well. The Singapore location has a “Battlestar Galactica” roller coaster and the Beijing resort has a “Kung Fu Panda” land.

Universal Parks and Resorts is owned by NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News.

Topline

Universal Parks & Resorts announced plans on Wednesday to construct a “one-of-a-kind” family-friendly park outside Dallas and a horror-themed attraction in Las Vegas, adding to Universal’s portfolio of massive parks as it competes with Disney.

Key Facts

Universal’s planned park in Frisco, Texas, just north of Dallas, is tailored for “younger audiences” on a nearly 100-acre plot of land, Universal Parks—a subsidiary of NBCUniversal, which is owned by Comcast—said in a statement on Wednesday.

The company did not say when construction would begin in Frisco’s $10 billion Fields development, where several other projects are planned, including a $500 million Omni hotel and the PGA headquarters, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

The company is also planning to open a significantly smaller 110,000-square-foot horror-themed attraction on the Las Vegas Strip based on a Halloween-themed series of events at its flagship park in Orlando, Florida, Universal announced.

The company did not specify how much the projects would cost or how much they would charge for admission, though by comparison, Universal Studios’ 300-acre Beijing resort, which opened in September 2021, reportedly cost $6.5 billion to construct—double its original budget and $1 billion more than Disney’s Shanghai park ($5.5 billion).

Tangent

The news comes one month before Universal Studios plans to open a Nintendo-themed park at its Hollywood resort in Los Angeles, and as it constructs a massive expansion of its Orlando resort, called Epic Universe, which is set to open in 2025. In addition to its parks in California and Florida, Universal’s parent company NBC Universal also runs major resorts in Beijing, Singapore and Osaka, Japan.

$5.1 billion. That’s how much NBCUniversal made in revenue off its theme parks in 2021—a 141.2% increase from 2020, when it suffered from temporary Covid-era closures and capacity limits, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. In 2021, the theme park division still hadn’t caught up with pre-pandemic 2019, which logged $6.2 billion in revenue.

Had this been an election instead of a championship game, Wolf Blitzer, or his equal at another news network, might have declared the winner at halftime.

"Georgia is still the undisputed heavyweight champion of college football." he might say for starters. Viewers might switch to Scott Van Pelt on "ESPN SportsCenter" for highlights.

Too many coveted advertising dollars were at stake for ESPN not to televise the second half. But if so, watchers would have been spared Georgia coach Kirby Smart wrestling with his conscience like Barry Switzer so many times when Oklahoma played Iowa State.

The Big 12 waited nine years for a finalist in the College Football Playoffs. Getting TCU into the final represented "a game changer for us," the league's commissioner said at CFP media day Saturday in Los Angeles. What happened was that TCU kept taking overhand rights to the head like an overmatched boxer.

Sonny Dykes' Horned Frogs, responsible for so many heartwarming stories this season, played decently at times Monday night but at others were struck speechless by the nation's No. 1 college twice now in the 2020s.

Playing in a stadium shared by two NFL teams, Georgia punched the time clock with precision, scoring the last 58 points in a 65-7 game. On the site of former Hollywood Park, Kirby Smart's team won as decisively as Cigar or John Henry ever did at the track. What a Beyer Speed Figure the Bulldogs might have received after as emphatic a victory as that of Secretariat (by 31 lengths) in the 1973 Belmont Stakes.

Los Angeles, it says here, is no place for the championship of college football, coming almost a year after the hometown Rams beat Cincinnati in the last Super Bowl. A more suitable venue might have been in Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, where O.J. Simpson in 1967 tore a fabled 64-yard touchdown run against UCLA in his junior year at USC. (LA after night is no longer a safe bet, though.) Simpson's alma mater had hopes of playing Monday until topped a second time by Utah in the Pac 12 championship game.

Whatever boost in prestige this game may give TCU, which lost only to Kansas State in the Big 12 title game, it solidified the Southeastern Conference atop the sport's ruling order with Georgia supplanting Alabama as top dog.

Watching Georgia distance itself from TCU, the thought here was not so much what Alabama might have done but whether this is the best SEC team we've seen. Since Clemson in 2018, we have had three different SEC schools finish No. 1: LSU in 2019, Alabama in 2020 and Georgia the last two years. That follows a decade in which member schools Auburn (2010) and Alabama (2011, 2012, 2015 and 2017) supped the gravy after titles by LSU in 2003 and 2007 and Alabama in 2009. That's a pretty good sampling to choose from.

Georgia, running the table this season after losing only to Alabama (SEC title game) in 2021, has had the look of a champion since playing Arkansas in the 2020 head-coaching debut of former Smart aide Sam Pittman. One may argue, but these Bulldogs look more complete than any team Herschel Walker played for or Smart (even Vince Dooley) previously coached.

The foot-in-the-face domination of TCU was as thorough as in the 37-0 rout of Pittman's 2021 Razorbacks in Athens. Georgia hung 21 points in the first quarter, winning as it pleased against a team that thought it was going places after roughing up Texas in its second game.

"Yards before contact" is not a statistic usually getting much attention but likely told the story of Georgia's latest win. Time after time, a Bulldog would break into the second level of the defense before getting hit. The first half, and all competitive aspects, ended when Georgia bumped it to 38-7 with its fifth touchdown (plus a field goal) to that point.

It seemed almost unfair that Georgia should get the ball to start the second half. TCU forced a punt, something it had not done, but could not jump-start the offense again as quarterback Max Duggan did on a first-half drive that made it 7-7. Georgia had hung "half a hundred" (50 points) on what for one night were the hapless Frogs before I changed channels.

TCU's second-half mission, said ESPN's Molly McGrath, was to "minimize the mistakes" and "stop playing scared." That might only apply in a game still in doubt.

Rejoined later, the 65-7 final count seemed almost obscene, like the 73-0 number the Chicago Bears laid on the Washington Redskins in an NFL championship game of old. No ballot-stuffing found here, no reason to recount votes.

Excuse us again, which we usually do at times like these, to ask what this has to do with Arkansas. One major advantage for Georgia, it says here, was quarterback with Stetson Bennett IV authoring the most decisive big-game performance by a Bulldog signal-caller in memory. Bennett is not a power runner to match KJ Jefferson but helped set the tone for this one with a 12-yard keeper around left end on third and 10.

A 7-6 record, one with a clean getaway but a bumpy landing, bears out that Arkansas needs upgrades at several positions. Losing defensive back Jalon Catalon to Texas through the transfer portal did not ease the process. Arkansas is no closer to finding a replacement for Jefferson after this season than it was before last year.

For the first time at Arkansas, Pittman encountered a divided fan base. With Oklahoma and Texas about to join the SEC -- and Georgia and Alabama showing no signs of slowing down -- Arkansas must make the corrections quickly to remain a viable force in La La Land of college football.

New Braunfels was one of the most booming cities in America in 2022. The San Antonio neighbor ranks No. 4 among the top 100 U.S. cities for economic and population growth in a new study from personal finance website SmartAsset.

To rank the top “boomtowns” in America, SmartAsset analyzed data for 500 of the largest U.S. cities. The site evaluated topics such as five-year population change, average yearly growth in economic output (GDP), five-year growth in number of businesses, five-year change in number of housing units, one-year change in unemployment rate and five-year change in household income.

New Braunfels was not the only Texas city to make the list, coming just two spots ahead of the Houston suburb of Conroe (No. 6) and a Dallas-area suburb, Lewisville, which came in at No. 9.

What helped New Braunfels become the top boomtown in Texas and No. 5 nationally? The historic hill country town had the second-highest population and housing growth between 2016 and 2021 (36.10 percent and 40.86 percent, respectively), according to the study. Additionally, Comal County, where New Braunfels is located, had the eighth-highest business growth rate between 2015 and 2020 (23.94 percent) and average annual GDP growth has exceeded 4 percent.

Other Central Texas cities made the top-100 list, including: Cedar Park (No. 26); Round Rock (No. 48); Austin (No. 67); and College Station (No. 73). Notably, Austin was the only major metropolitan city in Texas to make the list.

Elsewhere in TexasThe Houston area's Conroe (No. 6 nationally) ranks highest in five-year housing growth and secured the No. 22 spot for that specific metric. It has also seen a considerable five-year population growth of 14.71 percent. Conroe, the report notes, is in Montgomery County, which ranks in the top 30 for both its annual GDP and business growth rates.

Meanwhile, Lewisville (No. 9 nationally) has seen a nearly 16 percent increase in the number of available housing units. Lewisville's population grew almost 8 percent from 2016 to 2021; according to the city's website, Lewisville has a population of 127,008. The average household income in Lewisville rose 30 percent during the same time frame. The SmartAsset study notes that Denton County, which Lewisville is located in, is also doing well, ranking No. 10 for business growth and No. 21 for its annualized GDP growth rate.

Five other Dallas-area cities cracked the top 100, and one other Houston suburb: Denton (No. 19), McKinney (No. 33), Frisco (No. 42), Flower Mound (No. 50), and Allen (No. 69). In 2021, Denton ranked No. 36, while McKinney sat at No. 39. Sugar Land, a Houston suburb, ranked No. 46.

The No. 1 U.S. boomtown overall is Nampa, Idaho’s third most populous city.

“Moving to a boomtown at its earliest stages can be a great opportunity for entrepreneurs and investors, as there's still plenty of room for growth. And for those who are looking for a job, there are usually plenty of opportunities available in rapidly growing cities,” Edith Reads, senior editor at TradingPlatforms, tells SmartAsset. “However, if a city has already reached its peak, it may be too late to get in on the action. In this case, it may be wiser to wait until the city's growth slows down before making the move. This way, you can avoid getting caught in the midst of a housing or job crunch.”
