Meet the Team
Owner & Agency Director
Stephanie and her husband, Dan, started Always Best Care Senior Services in 2009. Originally from Eastern Kentucky, Stephanie has lived the majority of her life in North Carolina, including 16 years in Wake Forest. After graduating with an accounting degree from Wake Forest University, she spent 20 years in public and corporate accounting before deciding what she wanted to do when she grew up. Her passion for helping seniors and their families navigate senior living options is apparent when you meet with her, and she believes all her clients should know all their options so they can make educated decisions. In 2017, she was awarded the ABC Placement Award of the Year.
When she isn’t helping her clients, Stephanie enjoys watching movies and WFU sports with her husband and spending time with their two teenage daughters and adult son.
Elizabeth Cruz, RN
Elizabeth has been a Registered Nurse for 9 years and joined the Always Best Care team in 2016. She graduated with a Biology degree from North Carolina State Univerisity and a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. Elizabeth started her nursing career at UNC Hospitals where she worked for several years in the acute burn, wound care and trauma field before transitioning to her current role at Nursing Supervisor for Always Best Care. Elizabeth performs Initial Assessments for clients and develops and continually adjusts care plans to best suit their needs. She is passionate about providing exceptional care to seniors and working with our excellent team of caregivers to provide compassionate, professional, and individualized care to our clients.
Elizabeth lives in Wake forest with her husband and two young daughters. She loves spending time with her family and enjoys running and spending time outdoors.
April Alexander, LPN
Assistant Nursing Supervisor
April earned her nursing degree in her home state of Massachusetts. For the last 25 years, she has built her career in healthcare with a specialty in Geriatrics. She has a passion for helping seniors maintain their independence while affording them the opportunity to live life to the fullest.
When she’s not at work, you can find April at the North Wake Baseball fields where she manages the concession area. She also enjoys spending time with her family, dogs and loves to travel.
Paige Van Lenten
Community Relations Director
Paige graduated with a BS in Management from Georgia Tech with a focus in Marketing and Leadership, and brings over 20 years of relationship building and leadership to Always Best Care. She specializes in senior placement, and by listening to the families’ needs and specific situations, she will reduce their stress by helping find the ideal senior living option for our clients. Paige has lived in Raleigh for over 24 years with her husband Dave and two children, Allison and Anderson. She held Administrative leadership roles in the utility industry before staying home with her children for over 15 years. During that time, she served the community in many volunteer leadership roles with the Junior League of Raleigh, her children’s school PTA and her church.
Tonetta “Toni” Dove
Client Relations Coordinator
Toni joined Always Best Care in March 2018 as a caregiver, then quickly moved in the office, first as Scheduling Coordinator and now as Client Relations’ Coordinator. Each day, Toni brings a warm and loving heart to work, whether in the office or in the field. She received a Sociology and Social Welfare degree from Saint Augustine’s University. Although time was taken to fulfill other career desires, her passion for humanity never faded. Coming to Always Best Care has allowed Toni to sew back into her passion and doing so with the elderly community is allowing her to serve a greater purpose. The love she has for her position and this company comes from having a concern for others. She often says, “Being in the Lord’s House teaches me how to love others the right way”. Toni enjoys spending time with her two adult children and four-legged friend, Max. Loving thy neighbor is a commandment Toni implements every day, especially at Always Best Care.
Office and HR Coordinator
Christina joined Always Best Care in 2017 as a caregiver, and recently became Office Manager. She graduated with a Psychology degree from Virginia Commonwealth University with a focus in Industrial Psychology and Human Resource Management. Originally from Virginia, she moved to Raleigh NC in 1994 and spent 21 years in Corporate HR and Retirement Services. As life makes changes in your path, Christina was referred to ABC and well, the rest is history as she found her “purpose”! Her love of helping seniors moved from direct caregiving to office management. She works on billing, payroll and most HR-related functions. Christina lives in Youngsville with her husband, daughter and son. She loves spending quality time with her family and her church.
Beth graduated with an accounting and JD degree from the University of South Carolina in 1993. After graduation, she moved to North Carolina and has called Raleigh home for over 25 years. She enjoyed practicing Real Estate Law for 10 years before she became a stay-at-home mom to three kids. After years of being of service to her family, she has started on a new path as the Scheduling Coordinator at Always Best Care. She is excited to be working on a dynamic and ever-growing schedule. Her goal is to keep the lives of the clients and caregivers, who are the heart of the company, running smoothly. Beth is a huge football fan. She also enjoys watching her daughter play soccer and spending time with her two adult sons.
Weekend Scheduling Assistant
Zara will be graduating in December 2019 with a BS in Business Administration, Accountancy from UNC Wilmington, then plans to pursue her Master’s in Accounting from UNC Charlotte. She has worked with the company since 2015, assisting with office administration and weekend scheduling. In addition to being a full-time student, Zara works part-time as an accounting clerk for Shell Island Resort in Wilmington and is a vocal performer, active in both the UNCW Chamber Choir and UNCW Seahawkappellas. She has also performed at both local Alzheimer’s Walks in Raleigh and Durham.
