Meet the Team
President & Director of Client Care
Jim Smeaton is the owner of Always Best Care of Western North Carolina. He is a graduate of Rider University Prior to founding Always Best Care in 2011, Jim spent over 30 years in a variety of sales / marketing, product management and customer service management roles in the electronics and packaging industries.
While he wears many hats in the business, Jim most enjoys visiting referral sources and current and prospective clients and listening to their life stories. He serves on the board of Aging Projects, Inc. and is on the local Walk to End Alzheimer’s committee.
Jim and his wife Anne are the proud parents of three grown sons who are all “off the payroll” and living in North Carolina. His interests include playing golf, hiking, anything related to the water (lakes or beach) and skiing with the FROGS (Five Really Old Guys Skiing).
Staffing Coordinator / Scheduler
Janice is a native of North Carolina and attended Blue Ridge Community College and Asheville Buncombe Technical College.
She has been with Always Best Care for over 2 years and in the Home Care industry as a staffing coordinator for 15 years and has a great understanding of both client and caregiver rapport that is so important in maintaining good relationships. She has a thorough understanding of all aspects of the Home Care business that contributes to the best care for the seniors.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and grandchildren.
Staffing Coordinator / Scheduler
Stephanie is a native of Florida and moved to Western NC in 2016 and “couldn’t be happier with our decision”. She has been with Always Best Care Senior Services since December of 2016. She has always been partial to and has personal experience working with seniors having cared for her grandfather. Stephanie attended the University of North Florida where she met my husband of 14 years. They have three amazing children together.
In her spare time, she and her family enjoy fishing and hiking around the many beautiful places Western North Carolina has to offer.
Community Marketing Representative
Deidre is originally from Ohio, Deidre now resides in Hendersonville. She was previously a CNA and has more than twenty-five years of experience in a variety of healthcare product marketing roles. Deidre loves meeting new people and has “never met a stranger”. She loves developing new relationships and has a passion for working with seniors and veterans. She has served as a volunteer with Hospice and also with the American Red Cross working with veterans.
In her free time, Deidre enjoys getting outdoors in beautiful western North Carolina.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Mary Ann is an RN with 30 years of nursing experience first as an LPN and after getting her RN worked in a variety of clinical settings including in the hospital as a charge nurse on the medical surgical floor as well as in home health and hospice for 13 years. Mary Ann thoroughly enjoys elder care, especially working with and interacting with seniors.
MaryAnn currently volunteers at the Veterans Restoration Quarters, providing monthly meals for homeless veterans and at Steadfast House providing stability to homeless women & moms with children. She has previously volunteered with the American Red Cross doing blood drives and with the American Heart Association.
A North Carolinian who graduated from Brevard High School, Dianne is an RN with over 20 years of nursing experience in several hospitals and also as a RN / Case Manager. As an RN, Dianne has experience working in many departments including the ER, Med/Surg, Cardiac, Orthopedics, Oncology and Psychiatric. Dianne has personal experience dealing with a family member with Alzheimer’s and has a true passion for working with the elderly.
In her spare time she enjoys cooking, gardening, crafts and spending time with family.
