Home Care In Jupiter, FL

Home Care Jupiter, FL

They say that your golden years are the best years of your life. For most older Americans, that's how it should be - a time to relax, reflect, and live life in a familiar place. After all, senior citizens in the U.S. have worked tirelessly to build a better economy, serve their communities, and raise families.

However, as seniors grow older, completing daily tasks like showering and enjoying activities such as visiting the historic DuBois Pioneer Home gets harder without someone by their side. Unfortunately, many older Americans aren't able to rely on their adult children for help. The reality in today's world is that family members do not have the skills or time to dedicate to caring for their parents. That's where Always Best Care Senior Services comes in.

Our in-home care services are for people who prefer to stay at home as they grow older but need ongoing care that family or friends cannot provide. More and more older adults prefer to live far away from long-term, institutionalized facilities and closer to the place where they feel most comfortable - their home. Home care in Jupiter, FL is a safe, effective way to give your loved ones the care they need when they need it the most.

“Steve and Claudia at Always Best Care Senior Services were just awesome in how they provided at home care for my mother Carmen. Starting with the initial consultation by Steve to learn about mom's personal care needs to the follow-up visit of a registered nurse to the eventual placement of a compassionate caregiver; every step of their service was well thought out and they truly delivered on providing a level of care for mom that exceeded our families (and mom's) expectations. “I have been utilizing Always Best Care Senior Services for 2 years to care 24/7 for my elderly parents. I am very pleased with their services. The Owners and Office Staff bend over backwards to make sure that there is always coverage, to alert my parents Caregiver Team of any requests that I make, to advise me when there is an issue with my parents or their dog. The Caregiver Team working with my parents are all compassionate and caring, knowledgeable and skilled. Sadly, my Father passed away in the fall of 2020. Each of their Caregivers, the Owners and the Office Staff expressed to me that they would like to attend his memorial service when we are able to have it. During the weeks he was slipping away, the Caregiver team not only took care of my parents, they looked after me, gently reminding me to eat, rest or take a break. They truly care not only for my parents, but for all our family. I can’t begin to express what a comfort it has been to have them caring for my parents, especially during the pandemic when visits are prohibited. They are my eyes and ears. Working intimately with my parents, the Caregivers are very tuned in to even subtle changes. If you are in the market and looking for a senior services/home health care company, I strongly urge you to reach out to Always Best Care Senior Services. You’ll be happy you did.”

“I have worked with, and explored working with, various agencies and registries in the Palm Beach County area. I am picky. Always Best Care is qualitatively a notch above every other organization I've encountered. Responsive. Amiable. Professional. The aide, Islande, who has worked with my mom is top-notch for our needs. And . . . I have no doubt Steve (the agency's owner) and his staff would strive to find someone else, if it hadn't been a fit. If you are looking for Nursing Care, I strongly recommend giving Always Best Care a chance. BTW: It is important to understand that working with an Nursing Agency (like Always Best Care), means the staff are employees, not independent contractors (as they are when working through a Nursing Registry). An Agency is vested in having good employees, and a good agency wants you to be happy. But even all Agencies are not created equal. I worked with one (Alternative Health Care) where aides did not always show up! That was painful and incredibly stressful, and the manager and other higher-up staff didn't give a hoot.”

“I wish there were more that five stars. I can not say enough about the experience we have had in working with Always Best Care Senior Services. Not only were they extremely receptive to our needs, available immediately to every call, text or email, compassionate and kind...every single employee was better than the next. My Dad's recent death and my mothers recent surgery (with complications) requiring extra care was a traumatic time for our family. The care she received was beyond skilled and professional. We knew she was in trusting, caring hands. She was happy. I have recommended ABC to others and they have had the same experience. Do not hesitate to reach out to them if you are in need. What is Non-Medical Senior Care in Jupiter, FL?

lm-check

Home is where the heart is. While that saying can sound a tad cliche, it is especially true for many seniors living in America. When given a choice, older adults most often prefer to grow older at home. An AARP study found that three out of four adults over the age of 50 want to stay in their homes and communities as they age.

lm-check

When you begin to think about why, it makes sense. Home offers a sense of security, comfort, and familiarity.

lm-check

The truth is, as we age, we begin to rely on others for help. When a family is too busy or lives too far away to fulfill this role, in-home senior care is often the best solution. Home care services allow seniors to enjoy personal independence while also receiving trustworthy assistance from a trained caregiver.

lm-check

At Always Best Care, we offer a comprehensive range of home care services to help seniors stay healthy while they get the help they need to remain independent. As your senior loved one gets older, giving them the gift of senior care is one of the best ways to show your love, even if you live far away.

Respite Care

Respite Care Services

According to AARP, more than 53 million adults living in the U.S. provide care to someone over 50 years old. Unfortunately, these caregivers experience stress, exhaustion, and even depression. Our respite care services help family caregivers address urgent obligations, spend time with their children, and enjoy nearby activities. Perhaps more importantly, respite care gives family members time to recharge and regroup. Taking personal time to de-stress reduces the risk of caregiver burnout. So, if you've always wanted to eat at the local The Woods Jupiter or visit Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum, don't feel bad. Doing so is great for both you and your loved one.

At the end of the day, our goal is to become a valuable part of your senior's daily routine. That way, we may help give them the highest quality of life possible. We know that staying at home is important for your loved one, and we are here to help make sure that is possible.

If you have been on the fence about non-medical home care, there has never been a better time than now to give your senior the care, assistance, and companionship they deserve.

Aging in Place: The Preferred Choice for Most Seniors

While it's true that some seniors have complicated medical needs that prevent them from staying at home, aging in place is often the best arrangement for seniors and their families. With a trusted caregiver, seniors have the opportunity to live with a sense of dignity and do so as they see fit - something that is unavailable to many older people today.

In-home care makes it possible for millions of seniors to age in place every year. Rather than moving to a strange nursing home, seniors have the chance to stay at home where they feel the happiest and most comfortable.

Here are just a few of the reasons why older men and women prefer to age at home:

How much does a senior's home truly mean to them?

A study published by the American Society on Aging found that more than half of seniors say their home's emotional value means more than how much their home is worth in monetary value. It stands to reason, then, that a senior's home is where they want to grow old.

With the help of elderly care in Jupiter, FL, seniors don't have to age in a sterilized care facility. Instead, they can age gracefully in the place they want to be most: their home. In contrast, seniors who move to a long-term care facility must adapt to new environments, new people, and new systems that the facility implements. At this stage in life, this kind of drastic change can be more harmful than helpful.

Institutional care facilities like nursing homes often put large groups of people together to live in one location. On any given day, dozens of staff members and caregivers run in and out of these facilities. Being around so many new people in a relatively small living environment can be dangerous for a seniors' health and wellbeing. When you consider that thousands of seniors passed away in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, opting for in-home care is often a safer, healthier choice for seniors.

Aging in place has been shown to improve seniors' quality of life, which helps boost physical health and also helps insulate them from viral and bacterial risks found in elderly living facilities.

For many seniors, the ability to live independently with assistance from a caregiver is a priceless option. With in-home care, seniors experience a higher level of independence and freedom - much more so than in other settings like a nursing home. When a senior has the chance to age in place, they get to live life on their own terms, inside the house that they helped make into a home. More independence means more control over their personal lives, too, which leads to increased levels of fulfillment, happiness, and personal gratification. Over time, these positive feelings can manifest into a healthier, longer life.

More independence, a healthier life, and increased comfort are only a few benefits of aging in place. You have to take into consideration the role of cost and convenience. Simply put, it's usually easier and more affordable to help seniors age in place than it is to move them into an institutional care facility. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, seniors who age in the comfort of their homes can save thousands of dollars per month.

In-home care services from Always Best Care, for instance, are often less expensive than long-term solutions, which can cost upwards of six figures per year. To make matters worse, many residential care facilities are reluctant to accept long-term care insurance and other types of payment assistance.

With Always Best Care's home care services, seniors and their families have a greater level of control over their care plans. In-home care gives seniors the chance to form a bond with a trusted caregiver and also receive unmatched care that is catered to their needs. In long-term care facilities, seniors and their loved ones have much less control over their care plan and have less of a say in who provides their care.

 Elderly Care Jupiter, FL

Affordable Care

In-home care is a valuable resource that empowers seniors to age in place on their own terms. However, a big concern for many families and their loved ones is how much in-home care costs. If you're worried that in-home care is too expensive, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it is one of the most affordable senior care arrangements available.

Typically, hiring an Always Best Care in-home caregiver for a few hours a week is more affordable than sending your loved one to a long-term care facility. This is true even for seniors with more complex care needs.

At Always Best Care, we will work closely with you and your family to develop a Care Plan that not only meets your care needs, but your budget requirements, too. Once we discover the level of care that you or your senior need, we develop an in-home care plan that you can afford.

In addition to our flexible care options, families should also consider the following resources to help offset potential home care costs:

If your loved one qualifies, Medicaid may help reduce in-home care costs. Review your FL's Medicaid program laws and benefits, and make sure your senior's financial and medical needs meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.
Attendance and aid benefits through military service can cover a portion of the costs associated with in-home care for veterans and their spouses.
Many senior care services like in-home care are included in long-term care insurance options. Research different long-term care solutions to find a plan that provides coverage for senior care.
Home care can be included as part of a senior's private insurance plan. Read over your loved one's insurance policy carefully or speak with their insurance provider to determine if in-home care is covered.
Depending on the life insurance plan, you may be able to apply your policy toward long-term care. You may be able to use long-term-care coverage to help pay for in-home elderly care.
 Senior Care Jupiter, FL

Compassionate Care. Trusted Caregivers.

When you or your senior loved one needs assistance managing daily tasks at home, finding a qualified caregiver can be challenging. It takes a special kind of person to provide reliable care for your senior loved one. However, a caregiver's role involves more than meal preparation and medication reminders. Many seniors rely on their caregivers for companionship, too.

Our companion care services give seniors the chance to socialize in a safe environment and engage in activities at home. These important efforts boost morale and provide much-needed relief from repetitive daily routines. A one-on-one, engaging conversation can sharpen seniors' minds and give them something in which to be excited.

At Always Best Care, we only hire care providers that we would trust to care for our own loved ones. Our senior caregivers in Jupiter, FL understand how important it is to listen and communicate with their seniors. A seemingly small interaction, like a short hug goodbye, can make a major difference in a senior's day. Instead of battling against feelings of isolation, seniors begin to look forward to seeing their caregiver each week.

Understanding the nuances of senior care is just one of the reasons why our care providers are so great at their job.

Unlike some senior care companies, our caregivers must undergo extensive training before they work for Always Best Care. In addition, our caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year. This training ensures that their standard of care matches up to the high standards we've come to expect. During this training, they will brush up on their communication skills, safety awareness, and symptom spotting. That way, your loved one receives the highest level of non-medical home care from day one.

Assisted Living Referral Services

While it's true that many seniors prefer to age at home, sometimes in-home care isn't the best fit. For those seniors and their families, choosing an assisted living facility makes more sense. Unfortunately, finding the optimal care facility is easier said than done in today's day and age. That's when Always Best Care's assisted living referral services begin to make a lot of sense.

Assisted living is a form of housing intended for seniors who require varying degrees of medical and personal attention. Accommodations may include single rooms, apartments, or shared living arrangements. Assisted living communities are typically designed to resemble a home-like environment and are physically constructed to encourage the independence of residents.

Respite Care Jupiter, FL

At assisted living communities, seniors receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They may also benefit from coordination of services with outside healthcare providers, and monitoring of resident activities to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Caregivers who work at assisted living communities can also provide medication administration and personal care services for older adults.

Other services offered within assisted living communities can include some or all of the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Recreational Activities
  • Social Outings
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Medication Monitoring
  • Family Visitation
  • Personal Care
 Caregivers Jupiter, FL

At Always Best Care, our representatives can match your senior's emotional, physical, and financial needs with viable assisted living communities nearby. Results are based on comparative data, so you can select the best choice for you or your loved one.

Always Best Care works closely with local senior living communities to gain valuable knowledge that we then use to help seniors and their loved ones make informed decisions. This information can include basic care and rent, resident availability, and services provided. Because Always Best Care is compensated by these communities, we provide senior living referral services at no extra cost to you.

Some of the most popular assisted living communities to consider in our area include the following:

  • Luxe Senior Living at Jupiter
  • Atria Park of St. Josephs
  • Courtyard Gardens of Jupiter
  • Addington Place of Jupiter
  • Mangrove Bay
  • Senior Advantages Jupiter
Home Care Jupiter, FL

For many seniors, moving into a senior living community revolves around how and when they want to make a transition to more involved care. Some seniors are more proactive about transitioning to independent living. Others choose to remain home until their care needs or other requirements are satisfied. When you think of spring break in Florida, you probably picture crowded sands teeming with vacationers. That’s the modus operandi of many destinations once spring break arrives, but there are certain pockets of shoreline in the Sunshine State where you can find less-crowded beaches and lots of fun. One of these places is Jupiter, Florida, a laid-back destination with a classic old-beach-town atmosphere. There is as much fun to be had here as there is in spring-break standbys like Daytona Beach and Panama City, so let us introduce you to Jupiter.

Stay In Jupiter

Spring breakers flock to hubs on the coast when the weather warms up, so if you want to avoid the crowds, you’ll have to drive a little farther south. Jupiter is located on Florida’s Atlantic Coast, sandwiched between Daytona Beach and The Palm Beaches, and it’s a less-frequented spot during spring’s busy season. You’re in for a relaxed trip here, where accommodations include the newly renovated Jupiter Beach Resort and Spa, which comes with sea views and easy access to the sands; the Wyndham Grand Jupiter at Harbourside Place, which is situated on the picturesque bank of Jupiter’s Intracoastal Waterway; and The Pointe Hotel, a breezy boutique hotel with a private beach.

Relax On Jupiter's Beaches

You can find public-access white sand beaches in many locations along the shore, including via area parks like Jupiter Beach Park, Carlin Park, and DuBois Park. Nearby, Juno Beach Pier at Juno Beach Park is a popular spot for soaking up the sun as well as casting a line. However, if you’re bringing canine companions along on the trip, Jupiter Off-Leash Dog Beach is the place for you. No matter where you stay in Jupiter, you're always only a short drive away from the water.

Take In Jupiter's Natural Wonders

There’s outdoor adventure to be had beyond the sands too. You can usually find an easily bookable boat tour; popular ones take to the water along the Loxahatchee River to see local wildlife in their coastal habitats. Just across Jupiter Sound is The Nature Conservancy Blowing Rocks Preserve, where you can embark on meanders along the boardwalks and hiking trails to glimpse rare and endangered plant, animal, and bird species or swim and snorkel along the beach. Nearby Jupiter Ridge Natural Area and Cypress Creek Natural Area are also popular places to explore the outdoors.

Enjoy Local Attractions

As for entertainment, one of Jupiter’s most recognizable sights is the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum, a historic lighthouse that you can visit, tour, and climb (it’s a strenuous journey). The connected museum has rotating exhibits exploring the town’s maritime history. At the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, learn how these sea creatures are rehabilitated and released back into the wild. Visit the patients in the outdoor sea hospital, and participate in one of the center’s nature programs or daily fish talks. If you’d like to take in a show, you can catch the museums in town or browse the events happening at the Seabreeze Amphitheater or the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.

Explore Outdoors

If you’d like to spend a day on the links, there are several golf clubs and courses in the area (it’s a favorite town pastime). Or head to the water where a variety of adventures await. There’s a way for everyone to enjoy Jupiter’s waters, from charter fishing tours to paddleboarding to swimming in the surf. With Get Up and Go Kayaking, you can schedule a clear-bottom kayak tour through Jupiter’s waterways where you’ll likely get close to some of the area’s distinct wildlife, such as manatees, conch, and dolphins. Jupiter Dive Center offers snorkeling tours near the Jupiter Lighthouse inlet to see starfish, crabs, and maybe a manatee passing through. For more adventurous visitors, a shark diving expedition will most certainly be a unique thrill, as well as super educational.

Shop The Day Away

From consignment stores to boutiques, surf shops to galleries, Jupiter has something for everyone looking for a memento of their trip. Though it’s a newer destination, Downtown Abacoa boasts “old Main Street charm,” making it the perfect destination for shopping, dining, and a fun night out. You’ll find plenty of eateries and entertainment, such as a mini golf course and escape room, or schedule some downtime at the salon or spa.

Dine On Fresh Seafood

For fresh seafood (and what is spring break without some fresh seafood?), check out Little Moir's Food Shack, 1000 North, The Parisian Restaurant and Wine Bar, Casa Cana, and The Bistro. Get fresh sushi rolls, flatbreads, tacos, and burgers at the casual U-Tiki Beach near the Jupiter Inlet Marina. Guanabanas Restaurant features live music, a tiki bar, fresh Atlantic seafood, and waterfront dining.

When it comes to spring break, you might have to drive a little farther south to avoid crowded shores, but once you reach Jupiter, Florida, the extra miles will have been worth it. Beat the crowds and try a trip to an old-school beach town with a relaxed vibe...it just might have you planning a return trip for future spring breaks.

JUPITER, Fla. — The town of Jupiter has named its first fire chief, a firefighter with nearly 43 years of experience, including running the town of Palm Beach's fire and emergency management agency.

Darrel Donatto, 60, will assume his position in the Jupiter Fire Rescue Department on Jan. 29, and be tasked with creating its first fire department, including hiring personnel and building two stations, with service to begin on Oct. 1, 2026. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue will continue to provide services, including from three fire stations in the town. One of those will be transferred to Jupiter, 3550 Military Trail, and the county has denied Jupiter's request to transfer the building at Burt Reynolds Park.

“As we continue on the historic journey of establishing Jupiter’s first-ever fire department, the significance of hiring someone with Darrel’s commitment to excellence and extensive experience cannot be emphasized enough,” Town Manager Frank Kitzerow in announcing the hire. “His commitment to service and expertise in building a world-class fire department as well as the relationships he has throughout the state of Florida will benefit our Town, residents, businesses and visitors as we establish the department and begin to provide service on October 1, 2026.”

Earlier, Donatto announced he was retiring from the town of Palm Beach and his final day will be Jan. 26 — a day after his 61st birthday.

"I am honored to be here today as the first fire chief in the town of Jupiter's Fire Rescue Department," Donatto said in a message posted on YouTube. "I look forward to bringing my 43 years of fire and emergency medical experiences to the town of Jupiter."

Donatto joins the Jupiter department after a 20-year career with the Town of Palm Beach, including the last five years as the fire rescue chief and director of emergency management.

Donatto oversaw a staff of 80 personnel spread across three fire stations.

In 2015, his leadership efforts led the Palm Beach Fire Rescue Department to achieve an ISO Class 1 rating, the highest possible rating bestowed upon a department by the Insurance Services Office in recognition of the department’s ability to protect the community it serves. This places the agency in the top 1% of fire departments in the nation.

In 2016, he was named the Florida Fire Chief’s Association Fire Chief of the Year, an honor he also received from the State of Florida, State Fire Marshall’s Office in 2017. He also earned the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs Fire Chief of the Year recognition in 2017 and has been honored with EMS Lifetime Achievement Award from the Palm Beach County EMS Providers Association.

Donatto began his career with the Town of Palm Beach as a battalion chief in 2004 and oversaw three fire stations and 24 uniformed personnel. He was promoted to division chief of Emergency Medical Services in 2008 and to deputy chief in 2011.

Before work in the Town of Palm Beach, Donatto spent 23 years with the Riviera Beach Fire Rescue Department. He began his career as a firefighter and paramedic in 1981 and also held the roles of driver engineer, lieutenant, division chief of EMS and deputy fire chief.

Donatto holds a Master of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelors in Organizational Leadership from Mountain State University, in addition to associate degrees in Emergency Medical Services and Fire Science Technology from Palm Beach State College.

In August, Jupiter voted to end its relationship with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and create its own department. The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections certified enough signatures on a petition, which would trigger a vote on creating a new fire and EMS service for the town of Jupiter. No date has been set.

Jupiter's council has approved purchases worth $7.5 million for four fire trucks and ambulances. The plan is to fill 93 staff positions.

According to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, the contract for its services cost Jupiter $25.8 million in 2023, which is a 22.8% increase from 2022.

A consultant said the town would save $68 million over eight years .

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue also has a station at 322 N. Central Blvd and one in unincorporated Jupiter Farms at 12015 W. Indiantown Road.

JUPITER, Fla. — A plan to create 520 apartments in Jupiter was rejected Tuesday night by the Town Council, but a recently passed Florida law could revive the plan.

Senate Bill 102 also known as the "Live Local Act" adds $711 million worth of taxpayer funds into different programs to help people build and buy homes.

However, the bill also allows developers to build apartments if a certain percentage of the units have rents tied to the median income in a given area.

Corey Crowley, who is a developer, said the law allows a developer to change zoning requirements through an administrative process rather than a vote from elected officials.

However, he said this might take time because an entity could slow down the process by not having policies within their town codes or interpreting the law differently than a developer.

"The law, when you read the details, is very powerful," Crowley said, "but the implementation won't be smooth."

According to documents from the town of Jupiter, the developer for the project, called Santé Circle, said it believes the project is allowed to be built because of SB 102. However, the town attorney disagreed because a development agreement occurred under a different law.

Real Estate News

Crowley said issues interpreting state laws at the local level happen with other topics, but developers have enough money to take the issue to court.

He said the bill could allow a developer to turn a shopping center or mall into an apartment building. Crowley said this could create issues because some places might not have the infrastructure needed for these developments.

"If I build a 24-story complex, I can legitimately create a downtown environment, and that means the county might have to make a new sewer system. They might have to do a whole series of things," he explained. "The worst part is that they might not get any taxpayer money for that if they build an entirely affordable project."

WPTV contacted the five lawmakers who sponsored the bipartisan legislation to see why this rule was placed inside the bill late Thursday night, but they didn't return our request for comment.

Crowley said the intent of the legislation is to build a greater housing supply.

"Tallahassee is saying, 'We don't have time to wait anymore,'" he said. "Property values have doubled. They are going to double again. You know, you guys need to start building in scale."

Josh Smith, who employs about 150 people in the medical field, said workforce housing is needed in Jupiter. He said it's hard to keep employees because they have to travel from further distances.

“The employees have to live somewhere," Smith said. "They can’t live in Martin County. They can’t live in Port St. Lucie, and you’re putting employers in a difficult decision.

The council turned down the project over concerns from people about traffic, controlling the population in local schools and the possibility of attracting a corporate headquarters in the future.

The developers for the Santé Circle project said they didn't have future plans for the building on Wednesday.

JUPITER, Fla. —

Jennifer Fisler and her husband, Robert Fisler, were visiting Harbourside Place in Jupiter from their home in Sarasota when they walked into a scene of pure panic and chaos.

"We heard one child screaming. And it wasn’t a play scream. This was a ‘I need help right now’ scream," Jennifer said.

Jennifer and Robert were lunching at Harbourside Place on Oct. 22 when that child’s scream pierced the afternoon — coming from the amphitheater splash pad.

"And there were three children, maybe four screaming people trying to get a man, it looked like, out of the fountain. And it looked like he was stuck," Jennifer said.

That man was 45-year-old Nate Davenport, who’d jumped in the fountain to save his friend’s 8-year-old son but immediately was electrocuted himself.

"My husband went into the fountain and then got back out because he was getting shocked and then went back in," Jennifer said.

In the chaos, Jennifer raced to the back of the fountain and somehow found the power breaker.

"I got the electric shut down, my husband, with the assistance of the friend and the waitress from Jupiter, got Nate out of the water, and his friend immediately starting performing CPR," she said.

Two of Nate’s children had also been severely shocked; their friend had actually passed out in the fountain before his dad, Seth Kozak, pulled him to safety.

Jennifer says the children were still screaming for their dad, so she herded them away from the scene, trying to shield them from seeing the desperate CPR attempts to revive Nate.

"And my husband, who was almost trauma bonded, he’s just like, 'This is, he’s got to be OK, he's got to be OK. He’s going to be OK. Like, these kids can’t go through this. He’s got to be OK,'" Jennifer said, tearing up.

Paramedics rushed Nate to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead within an hour.

Jennifer says it was the worst news they could have gotten, and her heart breaks for Nate's wife, Amy, and his four children.

She says she'll never forget what Nate's 8-year-old son said while paramedics tried to save his father.

"'This was supposed to be a fun day. My life’s never going to be the same again,' he said,"

"It was traumatic, to be honest," said Jennifer.
